Prohibited and restricted items
Updated on 6 October 2026
Translation for information only: the French version prevails.
Some items can never travel with Alo Transporteur. Others are restricted: the carrier chooses whether to accept them, and the sender must state what they are and their value. The rules also depend on the direction of the trip, because the European Union and Tunisia do not allow the same products in.

Always prohibited
- Weapons, ammunition and their parts, including replicas.
- Drugs and illegal products.
- Cash, bank cards and means of payment.
- Counterfeit goods.
- Hazardous materials: gas, flammable or corrosive products, loose lithium batteries, explosives, fireworks.
- Live animals.
Customs: good to know
Traveller allowances (for example €430 by sea) only cover the traveller’s personal luggage, not parcels carried for other people. Goods entering the European Union may be subject to VAT and customs duties.
Meat and dairy products from Tunisia cannot enter the European Union. Fruit, vegetables and plants need a phytosanitary certificate (except dates, bananas, pineapples, coconuts and durians). Medicines only travel in personal quantities and with the prescription.
The carrier handles customs clearance. If there are duties to pay, the carrier proposes them in the app with the official receipt.
Responsibility
The sender guarantees that their parcel contains no prohibited item. The carrier may refuse a parcel that does not match the request. A breach can lead to the suspension of the account and a report to the authorities.
